Positive Material Identification (PMI)

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is an NDT service provided by InCon across the UK. Both X-ray Fluorescence and Spectrographic Analysis Positive Material Identification services are available. We currently have 5 Niton XRF Analysers and 1 Spectrographic Analyser which is ideal for Carbon Analysis.

As a result of a series of accidents resulting from material mix-ups, many companies have instituted stringent Positive Material Identification programmes – InCon can offer a comprehensive PMI service either at our Test house or on site at Clients premises. All results are instant and computerised reports are produced at the time of testing. All our operators are highly experienced in their field and our clients can feel safe knowing that the equipment used and the operator conducting the job has the necessary knowledge and understanding, to ensure that readings and results obtained are true to the items that have been tested.

X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) PMI

We use the latest X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysers which is one of the quickest and most comprehensive methods for Positive Material Identification where low-level radiation is fired at the material and the energy levels reflected back from each element is measured, so identifying the alloy elements. As well as the above industries XRF is also ideal for Precious Metal Analysis / Environmental Sampling / ROSHH / WEE Testing.

Our Carbon Analyser is fully portable so can be utilised for testing on site, full computerised reports are produced at the time of the test.
